“Strike me down, and I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.” –Obi-Wan Kenobi
May 25, 1977, the world of cinema changed forever. A little movie called Star Wars became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. It’s an epic space opera franchise created by George Lucas. And if you never heard of it, you must be from a galaxy far, far away.
George Lucas didn’t just create a whole new universe full of adventures with new heroes, aliens, robots and sinister characters. He created a new mythology. He created something with which we could identify. Something we can count on. A path where we can see the solutions to our problems. He created a new hope for all of us.
Life can be one great adventure. But you can’t sit at home and let it come to you. You have to walk out that door into the vast desert full of danger and eventually into the stars, just as Luke did. It’s up to you to choose your own path. As Leia remind us, no one can choose it for you. In order to live a great life, you have to make a decision and it has to be all or nothing. As the great Yoda once said: “try not. Do or do not. There is no try.”
But don’t look for the easy path, look for the right path because once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Commit to your values and be always true to yourself. Whatever you do, be good, as it says in the movies, there are no great warriors because wars do not make one great.
The future is not written, as Yoda reminds us, always in motion is the future. That means, whatever you do now, it will change your future. You can forge your own destiny. The force will be strong with you if you choose to believe in yourself, even if everything is against you, you have to believe in yourself. Even if an asteroid field is hurling towards you and your odds of success are 3,720 to 1, do like Han Solo and never accept the odds.
Your willpower can overcome everything.
Train yourself to let go of the things you fear to lose and surround yourself with people who are supportive and believe in you, because you may find their lack of faith disturbing. Don’t get cocky. Be always humble and honor those who taught you.
And remember… the Force will be with you, always.
